Moon Rush Review
Pragmatic Play has never been shy about revisiting a successful formula, and Moon Rush is a good example of that approach. Released on 1 September 2026, this 6x5 slot takes the familiar multiplier-and-tumble mechanics associated with games such as Sugar Rush and gives them a completely different visual identity. This time, instead of colourful sweets and candy, you're heading into the world of cryptocurrency and meme coins, with cartoon-style crypto imagery replacing the sugary theme. The basic idea, however, will feel very familiar to anyone who has played Pragmatic Play's multiplier-based slots before.
Moon Rush uses a 6×5 grid with Scatter Pays, where winning combinations trigger tumbles. Winning positions become marked with multipliers, and hitting those same positions again increases their value. During the base game, those multipliers can climb through 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x and all the way to 128x before disappearing when the tumble sequence ends.
The real fun starts in Free Spins, where those multiplier positions remain in place throughout the feature.
With a 96.50% RTP, Medium volatility and a 5,000x maximum win, Moon Rush certainly has some attractive numbers on paper.
But there’s a bigger question here.
Is Moon Rush actually bringing something new to the table, or is it simply another version of a formula Pragmatic Play already knows works?
After spending some time looking at the mechanics, features and overall package for Slothunterz, I’ve got mixed feelings.
There’s definitely entertainment here, particularly if you’re already a fan of Pragmatic Play’s tumble-and-multiplier games. But if you’ve played a lot of the provider’s catalogue, you may find the experience rather familiar.
Let’s take a closer look.

Bet limits can vary between casinos and jurisdictions, so always check the individual game lobby before playing.
The numbers immediately tell us that Moon Rush isn’t positioned as one of Pragmatic Play’s extreme high-volatility, massive-win slots.
The 96.50% RTP is actually one of the stronger points here. It’s a respectable theoretical return and certainly isn’t something I’d criticise.
The Medium volatility also makes Moon Rush potentially more approachable than some of the provider’s more aggressive releases.
Where things become less impressive is the 5,000x maximum win.
That’s not a bad figure by any means, but considering some of the enhanced features can require extremely large stakes in relation to your normal bet, the maximum win starts to look considerably less exciting.
Theme, Graphics & Sound
Pragmatic Play has gone for something quite different visually with Moon Rush.
The game is built around the world of crypto, meme coins and digital currency, with colourful cartoon-style graphics replacing the traditional sweets or treasure themes we’ve become accustomed to seeing from the provider.
It’s certainly recognisable.
The symbols and overall presentation give Moon Rush a playful, slightly tongue-in-cheek feel, which suits the meme-coin concept rather well. There’s enough going on visually to make the game interesting without turning the reels into a complete mess.
I also think the theme makes sense for the mechanic.
You’re essentially watching values build as particular positions on the grid become increasingly valuable. That idea fits reasonably well with the game’s crypto-inspired identity, where prices and multipliers can seemingly shoot upwards.
The problem is that the presentation doesn’t completely overcome the familiarity of the gameplay.
If you’ve played Sugar Rush or several of Pragmatic Play’s other multiplier-based tumble slots, you may find yourself thinking you’ve seen this before.
That’s not necessarily a criticism of the graphics themselves.
Moon Rush looks perfectly competent.
It’s the overall identity of the game that feels less distinctive.
Core Gameplay
Moon Rush uses a 6×5 grid and a Scatter Pays system.
Winning symbols are removed from the grid, with new symbols dropping down to replace them. This creates the tumble effect, giving you the possibility of building consecutive wins from a single initial spin.
The interesting part is what happens to winning positions.
When a position produces a win, it becomes marked with a multiplier. If that same position is involved in another winning combination, its multiplier increases.
The progression goes:
2x → 4x → 8x → 16x → 32x → 64x → 128x
If multiple multiplier positions contribute to the same win, their values are added together.
This is where the potential starts to get interesting.
A few productive positions can turn an otherwise ordinary tumble sequence into something much more worthwhile.
However, there’s an important distinction between the base game and Free Spins.
In the normal game, the multiplier positions disappear once the tumble sequence ends.
That means you need to keep hitting the right areas of the grid while the sequence is still active.
It’s a mechanic that creates a nice sense of progression, but it can also be frustrating when you finally build a couple of promising multipliers only for the sequence to stop.
Moon Rush Free Spins
The Free Spins feature is where Moon Rush becomes considerably more interesting.
Landing at least four Scatters awards 10 Free Spins, and this time your multiplier positions don’t disappear between spins.
That’s a big difference.
Instead of starting from scratch after every spin, the grid can gradually become more valuable as the feature progresses.
Imagine having several positions sitting at 8x or 16x and then hitting those same areas repeatedly.
That’s where the game’s potential really starts to come alive.
Even better, landing another four or more Scatters during the bonus awards an additional 10 Free Spins.
This gives you the opportunity to keep developing the multiplier grid rather than watching the feature end just as things start to get interesting.
For me, this is the strongest part of Moon Rush.
The Free Spins have a genuine feeling of progression. You’re not simply waiting for a random collection of symbols to produce a big win. You’re watching particular areas of the grid become increasingly valuable.
Of course, getting the right hits is another matter entirely.
A Free Spins round can still fail to develop if the multiplier positions aren’t hit often enough.
That’s the gamble.
Enhanced Features & Super Spins
Pragmatic Play has also gone quite heavily into enhanced gameplay options with Moon Rush.
There are several different ways to increase your chances of accessing the more interesting features.
The 10x Ante Bet makes the Free Spins feature ten times more likely to trigger.
There’s also Super Spin 1, costing 20x your normal stake, which starts with random multiplier positions.
Then you’ve got Super Spin 2, costing 250x your stake, where the grid receives 32x multipliers.
And then things get even more expensive.
The Standard Free Spins feature costs 100x your stake, while Super Free Spins cost 500x your stake and begin with every position carrying a 2x multiplier.
This is where I’m less enthusiastic about Moon Rush.
These features are certainly interesting, but the cost is enormous.
If you’re normally playing at £1 per spin, a 500x feature would theoretically cost £500.
That’s a very different proposition from simply spinning the base game.
And when the game’s maximum win is 5,000x, the relationship between the cost of the feature and the potential reward deserves some serious consideration.
A 500x feature isn’t automatically bad, but you need to understand exactly what you’re paying for.
Personally, I’d much rather experience the game naturally than immediately jump into the most expensive feature option.
RTP, Volatility & Winning Potential
| Metric | Value |
| RTP | 96.50% |
| Volatility | Medium |
| Maximum Win | 5,000x |
The 96.50% RTP is one of Moon Rush’s better qualities.
It’s a solid figure and gives the game a respectable theoretical long-term return.
Of course, RTP doesn’t tell you what will happen during an individual session. You could easily lose money over a relatively short period or, alternatively, hit a big win early.
The Medium volatility should make Moon Rush somewhat less punishing than a lot of the high-volatility games dominating the modern slot market.
That said, the tumble mechanics can still produce plenty of swings, particularly when you’re chasing those larger multiplier combinations.
Then there’s the 5,000x maximum win.
It’s a decent target, but I can’t pretend it gets me particularly excited when compared with some of Pragmatic Play’s more ambitious releases.
That’s especially true when you consider the cost of some of the enhanced features.
If you’re spending hundreds of times your stake to access a feature, you’d probably expect a much higher ceiling.
That’s probably my biggest criticism of the game.
Is Moon Rush Original?
This is where I think Slothunterz readers deserve an honest answer.
Not particularly.
There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with the mechanics.
In fact, they’re proven for a reason. Watching multipliers build across a grid can be genuinely entertaining, and the Free Spins mechanic does a good job of creating anticipation.
But Moon Rush feels heavily influenced by the formula Pragmatic Play has already used successfully.
The biggest difference is the theme.
Instead of sweets, you’ve got crypto.
Instead of candy symbols, you’re looking at meme-coin imagery.
But once you start spinning, the underlying experience feels familiar.
If you’ve never played Sugar Rush or similar Pragmatic Play games, you may have a very different reaction. For a new player, Moon Rush can be a fun introduction to the mechanic.
For experienced players who have played dozens of Pragmatic releases, however, it may feel more like another variation than a genuinely new game.
That’s a shame because the underlying multiplier system still has plenty of potential.
Who Is Moon Rush For?
| Player Type | Why It Works |
| Pragmatic Play Fans | Familiar multiplier-and-tumble mechanics |
| Medium Volatility Players | Less aggressive than many high-volatility slots |
| Free Spins Fans | Persistent multipliers create progression |
| Crypto Theme Fans | Distinctive meme-coin-inspired presentation |
| Big Win Hunters | 5,000x offers reasonable upside |
| Players Seeking Innovation | May find the mechanics too familiar |
I’d recommend Moon Rush primarily to players who already enjoy Pragmatic Play’s multiplier-based games and want another variation on the formula.
The Medium volatility is also appealing if you don’t want the extreme swings associated with some of the provider’s more aggressive titles.
I wouldn’t recommend approaching the game simply because of the enhanced features, though.
The 100x, 250x and particularly 500x options require a serious bankroll and can make the game’s 5,000x maximum win look less impressive.
For most players, the standard game is where I’d spend my time.
Final Verdict
Moon Rush is a competent Pragmatic Play slot, but it’s difficult to escape the feeling that you’ve played it before.
The crypto theme gives the game a different personality, and I actually like the way the visual design fits the concept. The gameplay itself is also perfectly solid, with tumbling wins, escalating multipliers and persistent positions during Free Spins creating some genuinely entertaining moments.
The 96.50% RTP is good, while Medium volatility makes the game more accessible than some of Pragmatic Play’s more aggressive releases.
The Free Spins feature is probably my favourite part.
Having multiplier positions remain active throughout the bonus gives you something to build towards, and watching a productive section of the grid gradually increase from 2x to 4x, 8x and beyond can be satisfying.
But Moon Rush doesn’t completely convince me.
The underlying mechanics are extremely familiar, and changing the theme to cryptocurrency doesn’t make the game feel particularly revolutionary. For players who have already spent plenty of time with Pragmatic Play’s multiplier slots, the lack of genuine innovation may be difficult to overlook.
I’m also not convinced by the expensive enhanced features.
When you’re potentially spending 500x your stake on Super Free Spins while the maximum win is capped at 5,000x, the maths doesn’t immediately scream value to me.
That doesn’t make the feature bad, but it’s something I’d approach with considerable caution.
Overall, I’d describe Moon Rush as good rather than great.
It’s enjoyable, polished and mechanically sound, but it doesn’t have the originality or winning potential to put it among Pragmatic Play’s standout releases.
For fans of the Sugar Rush-style formula, however, there’s enough here to justify giving it a try.
Slothunterz Score: 3.5/5
The good: 96.50% RTP, enjoyable multiplier mechanics, persistent Free Spins multipliers and Medium volatility.
The not-so-good: Familiar gameplay, limited 5,000x maximum win and very expensive enhanced feature options.
Verdict: A solid crypto-themed variation on a proven Pragmatic Play formula, but experienced slot players may be left wanting something genuinely new.
